The Slackers Ski & Snowboard Team had their best showing in 10 years, coming in 2nd place out of 25 Teams at Gunstock Corporate Race Series Wednesday March 8th. After 8 weeks of recreation downhill slalom racing, the crazy winter weather was to Team Slackers advantage.

"It all started with team Slackers and team Misfits back in the day at when most of the team worked at Cabletron," stated Team Captain Rich Crook of Northwood. "We have just kept the team going with different captains and team members over the last 10+ years. Crazy team names, but none of us take the competition too seriously, it's all about having fun on the mountain. We are out there to ride and ski, and to have a good time at the apree ski party when the night on the hill is done."

Wednesday night Race Series sponsored by Harpoon Brewery, Piche's Ski & Sport and Gunstock Mountain, as well as various Corporate Team Sponsors. Each team is composed of 5 skiers or snowboarders.

The Slackers certainly beat the odds and made it to the final event, the Great Ski Off to be held Friday night March 10th, where three Corporate Leagues (including Coors/Killians, Bud Light and Harpoon) come together for a final "King of the Hill".

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2007 season, contact team captain Rich Crook for details 942-8933. Race results published weekly at www.gunstock.com

unfortunately the numbers don't lie, i did improve my score at the 3rd time ski racing ever, down from 1:05 to 0:42, but that brought me in dead last amongst 150 skiers/boarders tonight...ohh well, team came in 10th in Gunstock Leagues, not too shabby...just as a comparison best time was 0:22, that is cookin'!!!
